Acting President Yemi Osinbajo said Wednesday Nigeria's ailing leader Muhammadu Buhari was in “high spirits and recuperating fast”, hours after he returned from London where he visited the 74-year-old leader.

“I was with [Buhari] yesterday. He was in very high spirits and he is recuperating very fast. We had discussions on a wide range of issues for over one hour,” Osinbajo told reporters before the weekly cabinet meeting in the capital city Abuja.

“He will be back very soon, perhaps much sooner than you expect,” the acting leader added.

Osinbajo did not specify what matters he discussed with Buhari, saying he would not go into specifics.

This was the first time since May 7 that Osinbajo saw Buhari since the latter left country on May 7.
